Chuang, Lien-Wei William
Reagon High School, TX

Li, Yu-Chun Alex
Sherwood High School, MD

TL Hanna High School, SC

Mr. Hall
Mr. Hall

Chuang, Lien-Wei William
Reagon High School, TX

ESL,US History,ALG2﹝代數2﹞Physics﹝AP物理﹞,EXP TE CON,Fundament Art, SPECILTY PHYS ED,

Huang, Tzu-Chien
Belen High School, NM

Dear Friends,

On Aug. 26th I took Tzu-Chien Huang, Jean-Baptiste Breliere, Ivan Shchedrov and Kerstin Beutl to a presidential campaign rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I had obtained tickets for the rally before the students arrived. I wanted the students to have an American campaign experience. At this rally they would get to see and hear the President of the United States speak. I left home with Ivan and Kerstin at 8:30 am to pick up Tzu-Chien and Jean-Baptiste at school. It was necessary to arrive early in downtown Albuquerque to secure a parking place. We then had lunch and walked to the Albuquerque Convention Center where the rally was to be held. Of course, the John Kerry supporters were present protesting against Pres. Bush's policies and presidency. There were many police present who kept the Democrats and Republicans on opposite sides of the street. It was an exciting event. We were given posters and literature as we entered the building. Arriving early we were able to get very close to the podium with a very good view of the speakers. We took a lot of photos, most of the them of President Bush! There were several important political speaker including former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani and Congresswoman Heather Wilson. A very popular Country Western band, Brooks & Dunn, entertained the crowd before the President arrived. At the end of the President's speech, as Bush was leaving the building, Ivan and Jean-Baptiste were able to shake the President's hand.

I was able to introduce all of the students to TV and radio station producers and a member of the White House Press Corp. The students were interviewed for their impressions and opinions of the campaign rally. We had a great time. I was exhausted when I arrived home after 8 pm. We had all stood in the Convention Center for three hours. This was a great beginning for the students for their academic stay in the USA. They will experience an American Presidential election this year.

I was so proud of all of them. They listened, asked intelligent questions and had very good comments about their experience.

Thank you for sending such wonderful students to me.

Your Friend,

Carole Roberts

James F Byrnes High School,SC

HI this is Kai, I have a nice day in the US, thank you for your help and this is the picture with my hostfamily,
Could you help me to print and sent the pictures to my parents in Taiwan, thank you.
Beside, I am very thank you that you found a wonderful family to me. Thank you again~~~

Hello Michelle,

In fact the report was faxed over a week ago, I am surprised that you didn't receive it.
I am refaxing it again this morning.
Kai is doing wonderfully and I have dinner with him once a month, and this Sunday he is attending the group's Christamas Party. He has received an award for a piece of school art work and one in a math competition. His English made GIANT STEPS progress and his smiles a lot and he is very happy . The family is planning maybe, if the weather and the health allows it a trip to NYC for the holidays. I do not have enough words to tell you how much I enjoy having Kai as a student in our group of Internationals this year.
Happy Holidays from still sunny SC,

Raluca

Dear Jennifer,

I am glad that you liked the article on Tzu-Chien. He is such a nice boy. Saturday, Jan. 16'05 I took Tzu-Chien and Chiung-Wen on a day excursion. We went to the book store, the mall, ate lunch together and then down to Old Town, the oldest section of Albuquerque where we toured the Rattlesnake museum. We all had a good time. Chinug-Wen seems to be happy. She talked a lot in English. I could hear and see that her English has improved. Her December report indicates that the situation in the home is much better. I am glad. I sent the report on Kerstin to you by mistake, I then sent it to the correct organization. In friendship,

Carole Roberts

Date: April 17,'05

Dear Jennifer,

I am writing to inform you that Tzu-Chien is now living with me and my family. He called his mother as soon as he arrived here, so his parents know about the move.

He has a ride to school and to tennis practice everyday. Friday morning Tzu-Chien went with the Tennis team, on an out of town trip, to a tennis tournament in Farmington NM. The team returned home late last night. Tzu-Chien had a good time. The Tennis team stayed in a hotel and rented a movie to watch after the tournament was over. Belen High School has an excellent tennis team.

Tzu-Chien is a fine young man. My husband Shannon, our son Zane and I are happy to have Tzu-Chien in our home. He is one of the best exchange students I have had.

In Friendship,
Carole Roberts
